MedStar Health's Anesthesiology Group is a leading anesthesia provider within the DMV and Mid-Atlantic region, recognized for its comprehensive and high-quality care. The group is part of MedStar Health, the largest health system in Maryland and Washington, D.C., employing over 30,000 associates across 10 hospitals and numerous ambulatory care locations. This extensive network offers more than 700 access points for patient care across 17 counties, making MedStar Health a remarkable entity in delivering healthcare services to a broad population. Known for its commitment to diversity, research, and graduate medical education, MedStar Health continuously fosters a supportive and innovative environment for healthcare professionals. The organization is frequently acknowledged as one of the “Best Places to Work” by prominent regional publications such as Baltimore magazine and Washington Business Journal, highlighting its dedication to employee satisfaction and professional growth.
MedStar Harbor Hospital, located in downtown Baltimore, is part of this influential health system. The hospital is an academic, community facility with 150 beds, handling approximately 11,000 inpatient admissions and nearly 60,000 emergency room visits annually. It is situated in a vibrant harbor setting, providing not only a dynamic professional environment but also offering free, optimal parking for its providers.
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) position at MedStar Harbor Hospital is full-time, requiring candidates to have a minimum of three years of experience. This role offers an excellent variety of cases, including general surgery, ENT, urology, spine, podiatry, vascular, gastrointestinal, obstetrics, orthopedics, and healthy pediatric dental cases. Importantly, it excludes thoracic or neuro cases, which are available at nearby hospitals for those wishing to maintain those skills. The CRNA is responsible for placing blocks and staff coverage in obstetrics, working collaboratively with a tight-knit team of MDs, DOs, other CRNAs, and anesthesia technicians. The supportive atmosphere ensures providers feel comfortable and well-supported daily, complemented by structured mentorship and collegial collaboration.
The work schedule comprises four 10-hour shifts per week plus one 24-hour weekend shift with the flexibility of working fewer weekday shifts when it is a weekend. MedStar Health offers competitive compensation with a premium base salary and performance bonus, along with eligibility for student loan forgiveness due to its non-profit status. There is a generous paid time off package including 6 to 7 weeks of paid vacation and paid holidays. Additional professional benefits include an annual continuing education stipend, reimbursement for license and medical staff fees, and outstanding retirement benefits with an excellent employer match.
MedStar Health supports comprehensive healthcare benefits such as health, dental, and vision insurance plans, in addition to an exclusive wellness center and a personal provider concierge program, emphasizing the well-being of its staff. The CRNA role at MedStar Harbor Hospital presents a unique opportunity for anesthesia professionals to join a respected group in a renowned health system, offering excellent professional growth, a collaborative environment, and a rewarding career with competitive pay. Candidates seeking to advance their careers in a supportive academic community hospital setting are encouraged to apply and become part of MedStar Health's respected team.
