The Certified Patient Care Assistant (PCA) role at Banner University Medical Center's Medical ICU Unit in Phoenix, Arizona, is a critical position that provides essential support to critically ill patients and the clinical care team. The Medical ICU cares for patients with complex and severe medical conditions such as high-risk obstetrics, liver failure, toxicology issues, complex abdominal surgeries, and sepsis with multi-system organ failure. The unit employs advanced treatments including Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), multiple vasopressors, Swan-Ganz catheters, and sophisticated respiratory therapies like ventilators and oscillators. Banner University Medical Center is one of only two hospitals in the Phoenix area and one of three in Arizona to offer an adult ECMO program, underscoring the advanced level of care provided.

As a PCA, you will play an active role in supporting patient comfort and care quality, assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, collecting patient data, and facilitating communication within the care team.
