The role being offered is a patient care support position that works closely under the supervision of a licensed nurse to maintain patient safety and provide fundamental patient care. This job involves monitoring patients constantly, notifying nursing staff of any changes in the patient’s condition or behavior, and intervening as necessary to ensure safety. Effective communication with patients, family members, visitors, and coworkers is essential in this role. Additionally, the employee is responsible for performing tasks assigned by nursing staff while adhering strictly to hospital policies and procedures. Candidates for this role are expected to have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of six months of healthcare experience in a clinical or home care setting. Certification requirements include Basic Life Support (BLS) and Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI), both to be obtained within 60 days of hire. The position demands a flexible work schedule, potentially including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call hours, reflecting the 24/7 nature of healthcare environments. Computer skills, proficiency with Windows-style applications, and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently are also required. Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months of healthcare experience in a clinical setting or patient care experience in a home setting
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 60 days from hire
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification to be obtained within 60 days from hire
  • computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information

Job Duties

  • Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification
  • maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area
  • provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas
  • communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members including multi-disciplinary teams
  • completes documentation of patient related tasks
  • adapts behavior to the specific patient population including respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style
  • performs other related duties as assigned
