Job Description

Houston Methodist Primary Care Group is a prominent healthcare provider with more than 40 locations throughout the Greater Houston area. As part of the esteemed Houston Methodist health system, which ranks among the nation's leading healthcare networks, the Primary Care Group is dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate medical care to individuals and families in the communities they serve. This expansive network provides patients efficient access to world-class specialty care and hospital services through collaboration with some of the nation's top hospitals and healthcare professionals. Houston Methodist is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment, proudly upholding equal employment opportunities and promoting diversity in the workplace.

The Medical Assistant Certified (MA) position at Houston Methodist is a crucial role within the Primary Care Group. This role involves supporting healthcare providers in the examination and treatment of patients under direct clinical or administrative supervision. The role requires participation in the administration of patient care including conducting patient examinations, assisting with diagnostic tests, treatment procedures, and dressing changes. The MA is also responsible for performing essential administrative duties in compliance with federal and organizational standards such as CLIA, HIPAA, and NCQA, ensuring patient confidentiality and accuracy in medical documentation.

This position demands a compassionate approach, working closely alongside physicians, registered nurses, and clinic leadership to promote patient-centered care. Tasks include scheduling appointments, verifying patient eligibility, and ensuring medical necessity compliance. The MA contributes to a positive work environment by collaborating effectively with the interprofessional care team, responding proactively to assistance requests, and engaging in peer-to-peer accountability to enhance both employee and patient satisfaction scores.

MA certified employees are expected to complete ongoing training and maintain relevant certifications like BLS and CMA to ensure proficiency in delivering competent and safe care. The role also involves preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing medical instruments, maintaining equipment and supplies, and managing resources efficiently. Employees in this position may be required to travel within the Houston Metropolitan area to meet patient care demands.

Overall, this role is ideal for organized, compassionate individuals who are committed to providing quality healthcare support in a dynamic clinical environment. The opportunity to work for Houston Methodist offers career growth through performance improvement projects and professional development activities, all while being part of a respected healthcare system dedicated to excellence in patient care and community health.
