Job Description

Oakwood Gardens Care Center is a reputable skilled nursing facility located in Fresno, California. Known for its commitment to providing exceptional care and a supportive environment to its residents, Oakwood Gardens offers a range of healthcare services including long-term care, rehabilitation, and specialized dietary management. The center prides itself on fostering a community where the health, comfort, and wellness of each resident are prioritized through comprehensive and compassionate care. The facility’s dedicated team of healthcare professionals work collaboratively to ensure that residents receive tailored care plans, encompassing medical, dietary, and social needs, all within a safe and welcoming environment.

Oakwood Gardens Care Center is currently seeking a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Dietary Director to oversee its dietary department. This is a prime opportunity for an experienced, passionate, and driven individual who excels in leadership and is deeply committed to nutrition and resident satisfaction. The role offers an annual salary range of $66,000 to $68,000, plus bonus incentives, depending on experience. The position involves directing all dietary operations, ensuring adherence to meal standards that are safe, nutritious, and customized to meet each resident’s dietary requirements based on physician orders and regulatory guidelines.

As the Dietary Director, you will be responsible for managing meal planning, food preparation, and service delivery with an impeccable attention to food quality, safety, and nutritional value. You will lead a team of dietary staff, including hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating performance to maintain high standards of service within the department. Additionally, you will manage budgetary responsibilities such as controlling costs and overseeing food and supply orders. You will coordinate special meals during holidays and facility events, ensuring all activities align with resident needs and satisfaction.

A key aspect of this role involves ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, overseeing proper storage and handling of food, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the kitchen environment. The Dietary Director also works closely with nursing, activities, and interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive resident care. Participation in Quality Assurance (QA) and Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings is vital for continuous improvement and communication. This position demands strong organizational skills, the ability to conduct routine inspections and resident rounds to assess satisfaction, and the capability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards.

Candidates for this role should possess at least one year of experience in a long-term care dietary environment and hold certification as a Certified Dietary Manager or completion of an approved dietary manager’s course that complies with state and federal regulations. Familiarity with PointClickCare (PCC) software is preferred, alongside a willingness to maintain continuing education and professional certifications. The physical demands include frequent standing, walking, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, accommodating those able to work in a healthcare kitchen setting with typical noise levels.

Oakwood Gardens Care Center values diversity and is an Equal Opportunity Employer that ensures all qualified applicants receive consideration without discrimination. The team embraces inclusivity and strives to create an environment where every employee and resident feels respected and valued. If you are a motivated dietary professional with leadership experience and a passion for enhancing resident lives through excellent dietary services, this opportunity at Oakwood Gardens offers a fulfilling and rewarding career path.
