The position available is for a full-time Diabetes Educator, based at the Gulf Coast Medical Center. This critical role is designed to support the growing diabetes population within the community by providing expert diabetes education and management support. Working primarily daytime shift hours, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, this position offers a competitive hourly wage range of $31.78 to $42.90. The Diabetes Educator will work closely with internal multidisciplinary teams including case managers, social workers, physicians, and dietitians to deliver comprehensive diabetes care across the continuum.
The Diabetes Educator serves not only as a clinical expert but also as an educator and consultant. They are responsible for managing the care of a defined patient population, developing expected patient outcomes, defining appropriate resource utilization, and setting customer satisfaction goals. The role demands a passion for teaching and involves conducting diabetes self-management education classes in an outpatient setting, contributing directly to the strategic initiatives of Lee Diabetes Care. This position is essential to achieving clinical excellence and fostering patient empowerment through education, aligning with Lee Health's Magnet designation status which recognizes nursing and healthcare excellence.

Job Requirements
- Associate degree required in health-related profession
- Minimum 2 years professional practice experience in diabetes self-management education
- Minimum of 1000 hours in diabetes self-management education within the past 5 years preferred
- Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist
- National registration as an RD if dietitian
- Current license as an RN in Florida or Florida Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be flexible
Job Qualifications
- Associate degree in health-related profession

- Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES)
- National registration as a Registered Dietitian if applicable
- Current Florida RN license or Florida Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist
