Job Description

Woods Supermarket is a well-established grocery retail chain that prides itself on serving diverse communities by providing quality products in a friendly and welcoming environment. Known for its dedication to customer service and community engagement, Woods Supermarket offers a wide range of products including fresh produce, center store merchandise, deli items, and more. The company fosters a teammate-focused culture where employees are valued not just for their roles but for their contribution to a positive shopping experience. The workplace culture emphasizes teamwork, integrity, hard work, and personal growth, making Woods Supermarket not only a place to work but a place to build a career and develop lifelong skills. The supermarket offers competitive pay, flexible hours, and a variety of benefits to support its teammates' well-being and professional growth.

The role of the Center Store Teammate at Woods Supermarket is integral to the smooth operation and customer satisfaction of the store. This position is responsible primarily for ensuring that merchandise in the center store sections is properly presented, stocked, and maintained. The Center Store Teammate not only handles the physical stocking and organization of store shelves but also provides friendly and courteous assistance to guests, answering questions and explaining store policies. Reporting directly to the Store Manager, this position plays a key role in maintaining the store’s appearance and operational efficiency.

This job requires a team-oriented individual who is honest, reliable, and eager to contribute to a positive work environment. The Center Store Teammate must possess good interpersonal communication skills to effectively engage with customers and team members. Daily duties range from unloading trucks, organizing merchandise according to aisles, operating store equipment safely, maintaining cleanliness, handling inventory tasks, to occasionally assisting cashiers with bagging and carrying out merchandise. Safety is a top priority; therefore, the teammate must be knowledgeable and compliant with store safety procedures, equipment handling protocols, and must maintain a clean and hazard-free environment for customers and co-workers.

The Center Store Teammate position requires physical stamina and the ability to perform various motions such as bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling on a regular basis, as well as the ability to operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, balers, and cutters for those 18 years and older. This physically active role also demands attention to detail for tasks like pricing merchandise, counting inventory, and handling unsalable products correctly. Woods Supermarket encourages its teammates to demonstrate a positive attitude and a commitment to delivering excellent service — referred to as D>E service and Hospitality 4 — which underscores the company’s dedication to providing a superior shopping experience to all guests.

Woods Supermarket emphasizes equal employment opportunities and values diversity, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds. The company also ensures compliance with safety and legal standards, including drug-free workplace policies and adherence to health and safety regulations. Team members can expect to work in an environment that supports their growth with competitive wages and benefits while fulfilling a crucial role that keeps the store welcoming, organized, and safe for guests.
