The USO is actively seeking a Center Operations Specialist to join the dedicated team at the USO Pearl Harbor-Hickam center. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $48,300 to $69,000 annually, reflecting geographical location, relevant experience, and specialized skills. As a Center Operations Specialist, your core responsibility will involve executing operational procedures that maintain the center’s facilities, equipment, and services. Interaction with center guests will be frequent, requiring you to act as a knowledgeable representative and problem-solver knowledgeable about center amenities, tours, classes, programs, and services. Additionally, the role includes budget monitoring, inventory management, and financial reporting to maintain efficient and cost-effective operations.
Beyond daily operations, the Center Operations Specialist will contribute to program planning and implementation. This includes assisting in the design and management of innovative programs and activities that bring value to service members and families both onsite and off military installations. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years work experience in event management marketing retail customer service recreation facility or related role
- Relevant experience preferred in non-profit military multicultural or global organizations
- Strong interpersonal customer service and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interact professionally with USO leadership general public and military audiences
- Proficiency using computers and electronics with working knowledge of Microsoft Office volunteer management software social media platforms
- Demonstrated sound judgment handling controversial or culturally sensitive subjects
- Ability to handle confidential information tactfully
- Initiative self-motivation attention to detail managing multiple projects with competing priorities
- Adaptability to changing organizational needs
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Basic math skills and knowledge of cash donation handling reporting and budget reconciliation
- Willingness to work non-standard hours
- General knowledge of military community preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain security credentials background screening valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain and maintain valid United States passport and foreign driver’s license where applicable
- Must strongly support USO’s mission
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience in event management marketing retail customer service recreation facility or similar
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Proven problem-solving abilities
- Proficient in computer use including Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of volunteer management software and social media platforms preferred
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and handle sensitive information
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Basic financial knowledge including cash handling and budget reconciliation
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours
- Familiarity with military community is a plus
- Ability to meet credential and security requirements including background checks and valid driver’s license

Job Duties
- Execute day-to-day Center operational procedures ensuring cost-effective safe welcoming and clean environment
- Monitor and maintain facilities and equipment enforcing sanitary and food-handling guidelines
- Engage and interact with Center visitors serving as subject matter expert on amenities tours classes programs and services troubleshooting issues
- Help maintain Center operations within budget monitor and report on inventory handle cash provide financial operational and statistical reports
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedure file detailing local operations and activities
- Assist and lead operational areas including programs logistics inventory management budget social media and database management
- Assist with operations and programs communications compiling announcements stories and photos for social media and local media
- Deliver or assist in planning and evaluating programs activities and events coordinating materials and assets
- Assist in reviewing and recommending new programs implementing program event or activity changes
- Develop and maintain working relationships with military community leaders partners donors and media
- Coordinate resources including volunteers materials and supplies for programs events and activities overseeing volunteer participation
- Communicate with volunteers about shifts policies development opportunities maintaining volunteer database reports
- Direct prospective volunteers through application process coordinate training implement recognition events and submit nominations
- Operate USO or personal motor vehicle as required
- Perform other duties including backfilling for management as directed by senior leaders
