The Part-Time Center Lead role is a vital position within the Higher Achievement Afterschool Program, specifically focused on middle school students. As a Center Lead, you will oversee groups of 5 to 15 scholars during program components such as Learning Blocks, Electives, Community Meetings, and daily transitions including arrival, meals, and dismissal. The core mission is to create a structured, engaging, and enriching environment that supports academic growth, personal development, and social skills. This role involves building strong, trusting relationships with scholars through mentorship and positive behavior reinforcement while modeling the organization's expectations of excellence and high engagement.

This position operates Monday through Thursday from approximately 3:30 to 6:30 PM with additional monthly hours for planning, meetings, and training. The pay rate is $25 per hour, and the work begins in August 2025, continuing throughout the academic year with limited summer hours. The Center Lead will be onsite at one of three Richmond, Virginia middle school locations affiliated with Higher Achievement. Responsibilities include overseeing daily program flow, supporting volunteers, managing scholar behavior, and ensuring smooth operations including attendance tracking, meal setup, and family communications. Emphasis is placed on leadership, adaptability, and communication skills to effectively manage groups even with short-term notice.
