The Cement Terminal Ship Unloader position at CalPortland plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the cement terminal facilities. This role involves operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting cement handling equipment to facilitate smooth terminal operations. The ship unloader is responsible for operating remotely controlled booms used for unloading cement from ships as well as managing front-end loaders and winch and bucket machinery for barge handling. The role requires vigilance in preventative maintenance routines to keep equipment running optimally and minimize downtime. Additionally, the unloader monitors product movement between storage tanks and coordinates closely with other team members to maintain a consistent product flow within the terminal.

This position is hourly and offers a competitive salary ranging from $39.00 to $44.00 per hour. It requires physical stamina and mechanical aptitude to stand long periods, operate heavy equipment, and perform manual repairs. Occasionally, the role demands travel for vessel unloading duties that may extend to six days away from the home terminal. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently or as part of a team, use a variety of electric and air-powered hand tools, and maintain an organized, clean work environment. Basic math skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite enhance the ability to record operating data accurately and communicate efficiently.
