Job Description

Club Demonstration Services (CDS) is one of North America's leading sales and marketing agencies that specialize in outsourced sales, merchandising, category management, and marketing services for manufacturers, suppliers, and producers of food products and consumer packaged goods. CDS primarily serves a diverse range of retail trade channels, including grocery, mass merchandise, specialty stores, convenience, drug, dollar, club, hardware, consumer electronics, and home centers. As the preferred in-house event marketing partner for Costco, CDS delivers unparalleled person-to-person marketing services, driving sales and enhancing product visibility for clients as well as Costco members. The company prides itself on creating impactful brand experiences and enabling consumers to access the best products available in the marketplace today.

The Event Manager position at CDS is a full-time role based in Napa, California, with a set schedule typically from Tuesday to Saturday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, though this may vary based on operational needs. The salary offered for this position is $66,560 per year, inclusive of comprehensive full-time benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, a 401(k) plan, and generous paid time off. CDS emphasizes exceptional work-life balance and offers a stable and rewarding career opportunity within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

As an Event Manager, the core responsibility is recruiting, hiring, and supervising in-store Product Demonstrators who present and promote products directly to consumers. This role requires meticulous oversight of product preparation and presentation, ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are rigorously maintained. The Event Manager is entrusted with training Product Demonstrators to deliver excellent customer service and execute product demonstrations that effectively drive sales. Communication plays a critical role as the Event Manager liaises between warehouse managers, vendors, and demonstrators to ensure smooth operations. Participation in grand openings of new store locations forms an important part of the job, providing leadership and coordination during these events.

The job involves leading all activities related to successful product events, promotions, and sales, with a focus on achieving defined revenue and net income targets through strategic sales activation and expense management. The Event Manager collaborates closely with District Managers to evaluate event performance metrics such as execution rates, sales performance, labor hours, and operational costs, making necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency and outcomes. Additionally, enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty through improved operational practices is a fundamental objective.

Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, retaining, training, coaching, guiding, and developing direct reports using company-wide processes, tools, and resources. While this position does not encompass indirect report mentoring, it demands a strong leadership presence and the ability to foster high-performing teams. The role necessitates flexibility, adaptability, and the capacity to work under minimal supervision to meet deadlines in a fast-paced business environment.

Environmental and physical demands involve working in various settings such as offices, fields, retail stores, or warehouses. The position requires significant physical activity, including lifting or pushing up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, preparing and cooking products as needed for demonstrations, and working in refrigerated or freezer sections as required. Travel and driving duties are also part of the work scope, with a strong emphasis on adhering to proper safety practices during product handling and cooking.

This comprehensive role is vital to CDS9s continued leadership in event marketing and product demonstration services, offering candidates a unique opportunity to join a respected company with a commitment to equal opportunity employment and supportive accommodations for applicants and employees with disabilities.
