Job Description

Club Demonstration Services (CDS) is a premier event marketing company specializing in person-to-person marketing services, with a strong partnership with Costco. Recognized as the preferred in-house event marketing provider to Costco, CDS is devoted to delivering exceptional product demonstration services that drive sales and enhance customer engagement. CDS operates within the retail marketing space, offering specialized services such as outsourced sales, merchandising, category management, and marketing to manufacturers, suppliers, and producers of food products and consumer packaged goods. By bridging the gap between manufacturers and retailers, CDS ensures consumers have access to the highest quality products available in the marketplace today.

The role of Event Manager at CDS is a full-time position that plays a critical role in the success of in-store marketing events. The Event Manager is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising part-time Product Demonstrators who present products to customers in retail environments, primarily Costco locations. This role requires excellent leadership skills to manage teams effectively and ensure that product demonstrations are executed flawlessly, with proper food safety and sanitation standards. Additionally, the Event Manager will coordinate closely with warehouse managers, vendors, and the Product Demonstration team to guarantee seamless event execution. The position includes participation in grand openings and special events at new store locations.

This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in dynamic, fast-paced retail settings and have a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. The Event Manager directs all activities related to successful events and promotions, ensuring that sales goals and operational excellence are achieved. Key responsibilities include communicating strategies, supporting policy development, evaluating event metrics, optimizing customer satisfaction, and overseeing daily operations. The position also involves managing labor hours, operational costs, and contributing to revenue and net income targets through effective sales activation and expense management.

CDS emphasizes employee well-being by offering a set work schedule from Tuesday to Saturday, generally between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM, with some flexibility based on operational needs. Employees receive comprehensive full-time benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability coverage, a 401(k) plan, and generous paid time off. This ensures a healthy work-life balance and a supportive environment for career growth. The Event Manager receives ongoing support and resources to lead and develop their team according to company-wide standards and policies.

The position requires a blend of independent judgement and collaborative communication skills to maintain productive relationships among multiple stakeholders, including district managers, warehouse personnel, vendors, and demonstrators. Successful candidates demonstrate a history of building and maintaining customer and client relationships, strong supervisory skills, and the ability to adapt strategies quickly in response to changing business needs. A vital part of the role includes maintaining high standards of food safety through certifications like the NEHA Professional Food Handler Certification. The role also demands physical stamina, including the ability to lift or push up to 50 pounds, work in various environments such as warehouses or refrigerated sections, and travel as necessary.

In summary, the Event Manager position at CDS offers a dynamic opportunity to lead a key team within a leading North American sales and marketing agency that specializes in retail and consumer-packaged goods marketing. This role is essential for ensuring top-notch product demonstration events that elevate brand presence and customer loyalty, supported by a comprehensive benefits package and a stable working schedule in a thriving company dedicated to excellence in retail marketing.
