Job Description

The company has built a reputation for its commitment to quality, innovative marketing strategies, and outstanding customer service. CDS operates across North America, serving manufacturers, suppliers, and producers of food products and consumer packaged goods. It works closely with multiple retail trade channels including grocery, mass merchandise, specialty, convenience, drug, dollar, club, hardware, consumer electronics, and home centers. \n\nThe role of the Event Manager at CDS is a critical leadership position that demands a combination of marketing expertise, team management skills, and operational oversight. The Event Manager is primarily responsible for recruiting, hiring, and supervising a team of part-time Product Demonstrators who engage with customers in store environments to showcase products with enthusiasm and expertise. This full-time position comes with a stable work schedule from Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, although times may vary depending on business needs. Additionally, CDS offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability coverage, a 401(k) plan, and generous paid time off, ensuring employees enjoy a healthy work-life balance and financial security. \n\nKey responsibilities of the Event Manager include overseeing all aspects of product preparation and presentation, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, and coaching Product Demonstrators in both demonstration techniques and excellence in customer service. The manager also fosters effective communication channels between warehouse managers, vendors, and demonstration staff to coordinate activities efficiently and participate in grand openings of new store locations. The role involves strategic oversight aimed at optimizing event execution, achieving sales targets, and promoting superior customer satisfaction and loyalty. \n\nBeyond supervisory duties, the Event Manager collaborates with district management to evaluate event performance metrics such as execution rates, sales performance, labor hours, and operational costs, making data-driven decisions to enhance outcomes. The role also entails supporting corporate governance frameworks and policies while leading a dynamic team through recruiting, training, performance evaluations, and development initiatives. \n\nPhysical demands of the role include the ability to spend over 66% of the workday engaging in active tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, product handling and cooking demonstrations in various store conditions including refrigerated and freezer environments, and traveling as required. Certification as a professional food handler is mandatory, emphasizing the importance of safe food handling practices. This comprehensive position is suited to professionals with 2 to 5 years of experience in retail, hospitality, food environments, or consumer-packaged goods marketing, who demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
