Job Description
US Foods is one of the largest foodservice distributors in the United States, known for its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. The company is a leading player in the foodservice industry, providing a diverse array of food products and services to restaurants, healthcare facilities, hospitality locations, and other foodservice operators. With a rich history of reliability and excellence, US Foods prides itself on fostering a work environment that promotes professional growth, internal promotions, and continuous improvement. Their culture encourages teamwork, integrity, and dedication to servicing customers with the utmost professionalism and efficiency. When joining US Foods, employees become part of a company that values their contributions and supports their success through excellent training programs and comprehensive benefits.
The role available is for a Commercial Driver who is responsible for safely operating delivery trucks to transport food products to various customers. This position involves a dynamic 5-6 day schedule, including weekends, and requires the driver to complete dispatch runs totaling 12-14 hour shifts with approximately 10-15 stops per day. Drivers begin and end their shifts at home daily, which facilitates a better work-life balance despite the demanding nature of the job. This role is eligible for a significant $12,000 hiring bonus for qualified new hires, making it attractive for experienced drivers seeking a rewarding opportunity. Compensation is competitive, with an hourly wage ranging from $25.83 to $50 per hour, depending on experience, skills, location, and legal factors.
The job entails more than just driving; it includes careful unloading of products using equipment such as pallet jacks and two-wheelers, verifying delivery accuracy with customers, obtaining proper signatures, handling collections when necessary, and delivering exceptional customer service. Additionally, drivers are responsible for performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations. Physical demands are significant, requiring the ability to lift and move heavy loads repetitively, often between 20 to 80 pounds or more. The job also requires adapting to various weather conditions while maintaining multiple daily stops.
Drivers must meet strict federal requirements, such as registration in the FMCSA Clearinghouse, possession of a valid Class A CDL with appropriate endorsements issued by their state of residence, and experience in commercial driving either in any industry or specifically in food and beverage delivery. The role may also require the ability to operate manual transmission vehicles in certain locations. English communication skills are essential for understanding traffic signals, engaging with customers, and completing necessary documentation. US Foods recognizes the critical role that drivers play in the success of their operations and invests in resources aimed at driver development and support.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for those seeking career stability and growth within a prominent company in the foodservice distribution industry. Benefits for this role include health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance. Those joining US Foods as drivers become part of a team that prioritizes safety, service excellence, and mutual respect, all while contributing to a mission of providing great food made easy. The company’s strong cultural beliefs ensure that drivers are not only valued as vital team members but are also supported in their personal and professional journeys.
