Job Description

Waste Management (WM) is a leading provider in the environmental services industry, specializing in waste collection, recycling, and disposal solutions. Known for their commitment to sustainability and community engagement, WM has established itself as a stable and reliable company offering meaningful employment opportunities. As part of WM, employees not only receive competitive pay but also benefit from the company’s dedication to their professional and personal growth through various supportive programs and benefits. This includes opportunities for education assistance, comprehensive health coverage, retirement plans, and more, making WM a top choice for those seeking a career that provides more than just a paycheck.

The role offered is that of a Commercial Driver within WM’s transport and collection operations. This position is crucial as it ensures the efficient collection and transport of waste and recyclable materials to designated facilities such as disposal sites, transfer stations, or recycling centers. Drivers operate various heavy-duty trucks equipped with different types of load lifts depending on the specific business line and truck model they are assigned. Responsibilities vary slightly across different types of drivers, including Commercial Drivers, Residential Drivers, and Roll-off Drivers, but all require meticulous attention to safety, skilled vehicle maneuvering, and the ability to navigate complex traffic environments.

The role demands physical stamina and technical driving skills, particularly expertise in backing maneuvers, vehicle inspections, and adherence to strict safety protocols mandated by Waste Management, OSHA, and DOT regulations. Drivers are expected to conduct pre and post-trip inspections, report any safety hazards or incidents promptly, and maintain excellent customer service by ensuring clean and thorough waste collection processes. The position involves working closely with operations management to optimize route efficiency and maintain communication regarding service interruptions or customer requests.

This full-time role involves operating heavy vehicles in sometimes challenging environments such as congested urban areas, residential neighborhoods, and industrial sites. Drivers need to be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of managing physical demands such as lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy containers while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. WM invests heavily in its workforce by providing extensive training, benefits, and opportunities for advancement, reinforcing a supportive work culture dedicated to employee well-being and long-term career growth.
