This role is for a professional truck driver responsible for the loading and transportation of oversized equipment and supplies. The driver will operate heavy-duty trucks, including tractor-trailer combinations, carrying loads that exceed standard weight and size limits. This position demands a thorough knowledge of mechanical, safety, and emergency protocols relevant to large commercial vehicles, as well as proficiency in navigating routes and complying with all state and federal transportation regulations. Drivers will be expected to conduct vehicle inspections, secure cargo safely, maintain accurate logs, and respond appropriately to any vehicle defects or accidents. The role requires excellent judgment, situational awareness, and the ability to work collaboratively with loading crews to position vehicles for safe and efficient transfer of goods.

Given the specialized nature of the cargo, the driver must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining safety standards throughout each transport journey. The position also requires the ability to manage travel schedules, including making stops at weigh stations as mandated by law. Job Requirements

  • Valid CDL driver’s license and medical certification
  • practice good safety habits from company and as required under federal and state DOT
  • must be able to read road maps and work in dusty or dirty surroundings
  • follow instructions and meet set standards for hauling and scheduling
  • judge distances and slopes accurately and make decisions based on verifiable standards
  • maintains visibility with operator throughout course of loading and unloading trailer
  • have good vision and hearing either naturally or with correction
  • frequently lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • routine climbing into/out of equipment while maintaining 3 points of contact
  • follows company and FDOT safety requirements in performance of duties

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred
  • one year related experience
  • class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsement
  • clean driver record

Job Duties

  • Check transport vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order and in accordance with DOT requirements
  • maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned
  • collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes
  • maintain logs of working hours and/or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations
  • report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
  • secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers
  • drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes to document weights and to comply with state regulations
  • drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products, earth moving equipment, general construction and forestry machinery, or other materials
  • ability to understand and comply with safety considerations as set herein and others required for the position
