Job Description
Waste Management Inc. (WM) is a leading provider of comprehensive waste and environmental services in North America. As a company committed to sustainability and responsible waste management, WM operates a diverse fleet of trucks and offers essential services to residential, commercial, and industrial clients. Known for its stability and growth opportunities, WM provides a secure and supportive work environment where employees can build meaningful careers. The company prides itself on being more than just a place to work—it’s where employees can create opportunities for themselves and their families through career advancement, competitive pay, and a comprehensive benefits package.
WM offers a variety of driving positions including Commercial Drivers, Residential Drivers, and Roll-off Drivers. These roles require operating heavy-duty trucks equipped with specific lift attachments designed for efficient loading and transportation of waste or recyclable materials. Drivers are responsible for safely navigating complex routes that include high-traffic areas, alleys, driveways, and industrial locations, ensuring timely and efficient waste collection. Safety is a paramount concern at WM, with strict adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and internal company safety rules.
The Driver role at WM goes beyond operating a vehicle. It involves performing pre and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any unsafe conditions or service issues, and maintaining clear communication with operations management. Drivers play a crucial part in maintaining route efficiency by collaborating with Operations Managers to identify improvements and best practices. Beyond their driving responsibilities, WM drivers are essential in delivering excellent customer service by ensuring all receptacles are fully emptied and the customer's location is left clean. This position offers an hourly pay rate estimated at $28 per hour, though the exact salary may vary based on experience and location.
In addition to competitive compensation, WM strongly supports employee growth and career development, offering 100% tuition coverage for benefits-eligible employees. This commitment extends to a robust benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as retirement planning options like a 401(k) with company matching and a stock purchase plan. Paid vacation, holidays, and personal days also contribute to a balanced work-life environment for WM employees. This position is ideal for individuals seeking stable employment with room for professional advancement in a company dedicated to safety, sustainability, and community impact.
