Job Description
ABM (NYSE: ABM) is a globally recognized leader in facility services and solutions, committed to creating cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environments. Founded in 1909, ABM has grown to serve over 20,000 clients with a workforce of more than 100,000 team members operating out of over 350 offices throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, and other international locations. The company delivers a comprehensive range of services, including janitorial, engineering, parking management, electrical and lighting solutions, energy and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, HVAC and mechanical services, landscape and turf management, and mission-critical solutions. ABM supports a diverse array of industries, ranging from commercial office buildings and universities to airports, hospitals, data centers, manufacturing plants, distribution centers, entertainment venues, and more.
The CDL Shuttle Driver position at ABM is based at the UPS World Port facility, where this role plays a vital part in ensuring smooth, safe transportation within a secure, high-traffic environment involving other moving vehicles and aircraft. The driver is responsible for controlling a 40-passenger shuttle bus that transports passengers to and from designated locations within the facility. This position is ideal for individuals entering or returning to the workforce, even those with limited experience or education, as ABM actively encourages veterans and candidates with military experience to apply, recognizing the valuable skills that former military personnel bring to the team.
As a CDL Shuttle Driver, your primary responsibility is the safe and efficient transportation of passengers. You must ensure the safe loading and unloading of passengers, including those requiring specialized equipment such as wheelchair lifts and tie-downs. Proactive vehicle inspections are required both before and after shifts to assure compliance with Department of Transportation standards and safety protocols. The role demands excellent customer service skills, as drivers act as the frontline representatives of ABM while interfacing with passengers. You will be entrusted with maintaining sanitary conditions by disinfecting the shuttle after each use and reporting any incidents or concerns immediately to supervisory staff. Additional duties include managing the refueling of the vehicle and enforcing evacuation plans in case of emergencies.
ABM offers a comprehensive benefits package, underscoring the company's commitment to employee well-being. Highlights of this role include a supportive, veteran-friendly work culture with opportunities for growth and training. This role requires a current Class A or Class B CDL with a Passenger Endorsement and at least one year of prior CDL driving experience, with preference given to those who have operated passenger shuttle services. The minimum age requirement is 21 years, and no formal education credentials like a high school diploma or GED are mandatory, making this an accessible entry point into a rewarding transportation discipline within a major corporation.
Overall, joining ABM as a CDL Shuttle Driver provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the efficiency of a complex logistics operation at a critical transportation hub. The role offers the chance to enhance your professional skills in a security-conscious, fast-paced environment, backed by the robust support and resources of an international leader in facility management. You will be part of a mission-driven company that values diversity, inclusion, and offers meaningful career development opportunities through a world-class training program especially beneficial for veterans transitioning into civilian roles.
