The CDL Shuttler & Transport Driver role at UniFirst presents an excellent career opportunity for dependable and hardworking professionals seeking work-life balance with a defined 5-day workweek, Monday through Friday, and weekends off. This full-time position involves operating commercial motor vehicles requiring a valid CDL license to safely transport and deliver production materials between UniFirst's plant and branch locations. The typical shift runs from 7:00 PM to 3:30 AM, supporting smooth operational logistics while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations.

As a CDL Shuttler & Transport Driver, you will take pride in using your expertise to manage equipment efficiently, increasing productivity while minimizing downtime and wear on vehicles. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate loading and unloading of products, securing cargo correctly, and maintaining vehicle cleanliness to uphold UniFirst's high standards. Daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections are crucial to guaranteeing the safety and reliability of the vehicles you operate, including correcting minor defects. This role also demands adherence to Federal Hours of Service regulations through proper logging and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) usage.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent experience
minimum 1-year verifiable CDL driving experience without ELDT certificate or minimum 90-day CDL driving experience with ELDT certificate
must be at least 21 years of age or older
valid CDL-A driver’s license
safe driving record
ability to pass DOT physical and drug screen
ability to lift up 20 lbs and carry up to 50 lbs
registration with FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearing House
excellent communication skills
ability to read, write, and communicate in English
critical thinking skills
ability to read and follow shipping information
ability to operate tractor and trailer for extended periods
ability to load and unload materials

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

Safely drive an interstate, CDL required, commercial motor vehicle in compliance with all federal and state regulations and company policies
utilize equipment in a manner to maximize productivity and minimize wear and down-time
transport product between branch and plant locations according to schedule
ensure appropriate product is selected and loaded for the appropriate day
load and unload the vehicle safely and efficiently to ensure proper load distribution and securement
comply with federal hours of service regulations, utilizing logs and electronic logging devices as required
conduct daily pre- and post-trip safety inspections and complete driver vehicle inspection report
correct minor defects and deficiencies
report unsafe conditions, accident, roadside inspections, and incidents immediately
maintain cleanliness and appearance of vehicle, inside and out, to reflect UniFirst standards
perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
follow all safety policies, HACCP, and medical guidelines
