The Senior Driver position at WM plays a critical role in the company's operations by operating heavy-duty trucks equipped with front or rear-end loading lifts. This role involves the essential task of picking up waste and recyclable materials from various containers that may weigh over 1,000 pounds. Senior Drivers not only navigate challenging routes that include congested roadways, alleyways, and driveways but also execute complex backing maneuvers ensuring safety and efficiency. This position demands high-level driving skills to transport materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities when the trucks reach legal load capacity. Beyond driving, Senior Drivers are expected to perform thorough pre-and post-trip inspections, maintain communication with route managers and dispatch, and ensure customer satisfaction by leaving pickup sites clean and orderly. The job is a blend of physical activity, advanced technical skills, and impeccable safety adherence. Job Requirements

  • Four years operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving experience within the last seven years
  • Able to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to interact with the public and complete records
  • Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work
  • Commercial Driver License Class B with air-brake endorsement upon hire
  • Successfully complete pre-employment screening including drug screen and physical
  • Compliance with all safety rules and protocols
  • Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing as per government and company policies

Job Qualifications

  • Four years operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving experience within the last seven years
  • Able to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to interact with the public and complete documentation
  • At least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country of employment
  • Commercial Driver License Class B with air-brake endorsement upon hire
  • High school diploma or GED preferred

Job Duties

  • Operates vehicle in accordance with OSHA and DOT requirements and all local, state, and federal regulations
  • Performs pre- and post-trip inspections using Driver Vehicle Inspection Report
  • Reports unsafe situations or service issues to Route Manager or Dispatch
  • Participates in scheduled training and briefings
  • Collaborates with Route Managers to improve route efficiencies
  • Assists other drivers and offers guidance
  • Notifies management of any incidents, accidents, or property damage
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety of vehicle
  • Completes and submits complex customer tickets when necessary
  • Positions containers properly at customer locations
  • Follows assigned route and completes all required documentation at the end of the day
