The CDL Route Driver position located in Durham, NC, plays a critical role in the safe transportation and delivery of compressed and liquid gas cylinders, and hard goods to customers, enhancing the company's reputation for reliability and customer satisfaction. This full-time role operates Monday through Friday with a 6 am start time and promises daily home return, fostering a work-life balance. The driver will operate a Class B Hazmat vehicle, ensuring adherence to all hazardous materials safety protocols. Responsibilities include loading and unloading materials, maintaining operational safety standards, completing accurate documentation, and providing excellent customer service. Additionally, the role involves conducting pre- and post-trip inspections to guarantee vehicle safety and functionality.

Job Requirements

  • must be at least 21 years of age
  • class B CDL
  • must have Hazmat endorsement or be able to obtain the endorsement within 60 days of being hired
  • successful completion of Airgas background and motor vehicle check
  • DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers is required
  • ability to routinely lift 25 to 75 lbs and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs
  • willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures
  • ability to maintain a drug-free workplace
  • adherence to safety regulations and policies

Job Duties

  • operate a Class B Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders and hard goods along designated routes
  • collect empty cylinders from customers and address inquiries to ensure complete satisfaction
  • record all transactions accurately and obtain necessary customer signatures
  • handle the loading and unloading of all materials
  • conduct thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and maintain vehicle condition
  • maintain a professional appearance and represent the company during all deliveries
