The role offered is for a Heavy-Duty Truck Driver, an essential position within WM's operations. The driver is responsible for safely operating a commercial heavy-duty vehicle to perform scheduled routes in residential, commercial, and construction environments. This involves adhering strictly to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, alongside local, state, and federal regulations to ensure safe and compliant vehicle operation. The position demands rigorous attention to vehicle maintenance, including pre- and post-trip inspections, and the reporting of any issues to management for corrective action. Team members in this role actively participate in safety training, route efficiency improvements, and problem identification to maintain high performance and customer satisfaction. The driver is also entrusted with maintaining clean work environments by ensuring all containers are properly emptied and the customer’s property is left clean and accessible. The role requires excellent communication skills to interact effectively with dispatch, route managers, and customers. Additionally, this position is classified as safety-sensitive and mandates compliance with all safety protocols and drug and alcohol testing policies. Job Requirements

  • 2 years operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving experience within the last 7 years
  • Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located
  • Successfully complete pre-employment screening, including drug screen and physical
  • CDL-Class B

Job Qualifications

  • 2 years operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving experience within the last 7 years
  • Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located
  • Successfully complete pre-employment screening, including drug screen and physical
  • CDL-Class B
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D (preferred)

Job Duties

  • Operates vehicle in accordance with Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements as well as all local, state and federal requirements and company expectations for the fleet
  • maintains a clean and safe vehicle
  • Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle using Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR)
  • notes all issues on DVIR for corrective review/repair
  • Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service calls to route manager or dispatch before attempting service
  • Participates and cooperates in all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required by route manager
  • Works closely with route managers to improve route efficiencies and identify problem or unsafe accounts
  • Performs all duties as scheduled by route manager or dispatch, assisting other company drivers as directed
