The Local CDL Delivery Driver role at FreshPoint in Avon, MA, presents an exciting career opportunity for individuals with a Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B). This full-time position features local routes that allow drivers to be home daily, with shifts structured for early morning starts between 12:00 AM and 3:00 AM and routes typically lasting about 10 hours. Drivers have the opportunity to earn up to $92,000 annually, depending on performance and experience, with a minimum average pay around $86,000, complemented by various incentive earning potentials. As a Local CDL Delivery Driver, the individual will be responsible for running daily routes with multiple stops, ensuring the efficient and safe delivery of goods loaded onto hand trucks and delivered to customers in the order established by the Transportation Department Manager. This role involves operating within a cross-dock model, picking and loading trucks at designated loading docks and returning empty vehicles to their respective lots. Drivers may need to assist with loading trucks, palletizing products, and performing other related tasks as directed by supervisors or managers. The position demands physical stamina due to frequent lifting, pushing, and moving of products weighing up to 100 pounds. Drivers will also maintain close communication with management regarding delivery discrepancies, verifying delivery with customers, and obtaining proper signatures. Adherence to Department of Transportation regulations and company policies is essential, with drivers conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections as part of their safety responsibilities. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • valid commercial driver's license - Class B or Class A
  • minimum 1 year route delivery experience
  • ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 100 pounds
  • ability to perform detailed pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • reliable communication skills in English
  • must be able to work early morning shifts
  • physical stamina and endurance for frequent bending, twisting, and lifting

Job Qualifications

  • High school or GED or equivalent
  • 1 year route delivery experience or applicable background driving a straight truck
  • ideal candidate has 1-2 years of route delivery experience
  • valid commercial driver's license - Class B (Class A preferred)
  • must be able to read and understand English

Job Duties

  • Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects
  • runs routes efficiently - meeting or exceeding designated route times
  • unload product from the trailer, by hand or using a hand cart, and place it in designated customer storage areas
  • frequently lift, push, or move product that weighs 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds
  • frequently reach up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets and hand cart
  • constantly bend and twist while loading and unloading product, and retrieving items from trailer
  • verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • contact management for authorization when discrepancies on invoice and communicate all errors or returns
  • perform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities in accordance with Department of Transportation regulations and Sysco policies and procedures
