Job Description
Gategroup is a global leader in providing airline catering and related services, dedicated to enhancing the travel experience for passengers. Established as a major player in the transport and hospitality industry, Gategroup offers comprehensive solutions ranging from catering to logistics within airport environments. Operating across various airports, including at the Seattle location, the company prides itself on a commitment to excellence, integrity, passion, and accountability. As an employer, Gategroup embraces diversity and inclusion, ensuring that its workforce reflects a broad spectrum of backgrounds, fostering an environment where all employees have the opportunity to grow and contribute meaningfully. The Seattle unit, coded 1037_GG Seattle, operates 24/7, reflecting the fast-paced and dynamic nature of the airline service industry, especially in major transportation hubs.
The role of a Local Route Truck Driver (CDL Class A or B) within Gategroup's Seattle facility is crucial in the operational chain that contributes to the smooth execution of airline services. The essence of this role lies in the safe and efficient loading, driving, and unloading of galley equipment and other materials necessary for aircraft preparation. Primarily, truck drivers are responsible for local routes, meaning they operate on public roads outside of terminals and airport restricted areas. The job demands adherence to strict safety and sanitary guidelines while being flexible to adapt to varying schedules, including weekends and holidays, considering the round-the-clock operation of the facility.
As a Local CDL Truck Driver, individuals will be required to handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, operating vehicles safely, and interacting professionally with airline representatives, ensuring a collaborative working environment. The job is physically demanding and requires capability to work outdoors under various weather conditions including extreme temperature changes and noise. Additionally, the role includes administrative tasks such as completing required paperwork accurately. Successful candidates will demonstrate key values such as teamwork, respect, and accountability, aligning with Gategroup's culture that emphasizes excellence and integrity.
This position not only offers competitive industry remuneration but also provides a $1,250 sign-on bonus to welcome new team members. Ideal candidates possess a CDL Class A or B license and must be at least 21 years old, with a preference for previous experience in a similar role. High school diploma or GED is favored, coupled with the ability to communicate effectively, both in written and verbal forms, which is essential for the completion of administrative duties and coordination with team members. Furthermore, possession of a current U.S. driver’s license and, for some locations, a Customs Seal from local airport authorities are required to fulfill regulatory and operational standards.
Joining Gategroup as a Local CDL Truck Driver offers an opportunity to be part of a dedicated team focused on making every travel journey better by ensuring that aircrafts are well-prepared and serviced. It is a chance to develop professionally within a global corporation that values its employees and continuously seeks to improve operational excellence while maintaining a high standard of employee support and safety.
