The CDL-B Driver role at Performance Foodservice is pivotal within the food supply chain, responsible for ensuring the timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products. The role is full-time with a schedule from Tuesday to Saturday, typically dispatching between 3-6 a.m., and offers the attractive benefit of being home every night with no over-the-road (OTR) requirements. This position offers an average annual pay between $70,000 and $80,000 and includes company-provided boots and uniforms. Additionally, employees receive free product benefits and have access to comprehensive health and wellness benefits starting from day one, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, employer matching 401K, education assistance, paid time off, and more.
In this role, the CDL-B Driver operates tractor trailers or straight trucks on local, intrastate, and interstate routes, including shuttle and drive-and-drop assignments. Primary duties include pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections compliant with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, securing freight, accurately documenting deliveries, and maintaining communications with customers, vendors, and team members professionally. Drivers are critical in ensuring product integrity during loading, transportation, and unloading, handling damages, returns, and necessary paperwork meticulously. The position also requires adherence to all safety and driving guidelines and prompt reporting of hazards or vehicle issues.
This role requires a professional who can efficiently perform physical tasks such as hand-lifting and moving cases of varying weights (ranging generally from 10-35 pounds and up to approximately 60-90 pounds depending on location), operating equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates. The CDL-B Driver also performs general housekeeping duties on the vehicle and loading docks to maintain a clean work environment. The role demands dependable, customer-focused individuals who embrace teamwork and are committed to upholding Performance Foodservice’s high operational standards.
