The driver is responsible for maneuvering the truck in challenging spaces using mirrors and GPS to locate service addresses, ensuring compliance with federal and company policies, and assisting helpers with loading when needed. Maintaining the cleanliness of the customer’s site as well as the truck, adhering to safety standards, and providing excellent customer interaction are key aspects of the job.

The CDL Driver will perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, complete vehicle condition reports, and maintain DOT logbooks and productivity sheets to comply with regulatory and company standards. The role demands vigilance in identifying unsafe waste materials and safe operation of truck equipment, including mechanical packers that compact trash in the truck body. The position also requires drivers to work in various weather conditions and outdoor environments frequently, often in noisy and traffic-heavy areas. Drivers must demonstrate strong physical stamina to manage the physical and mental demands of the role, including handling heavy loads and frequent standing or sitting.

At GFL Environmental, the employment type is full-time with a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, medical plans with employer contributions to health savings accounts, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) plans with employer match, paid holidays, and access to employee assistance programs providing counseling services. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are safety-focused, physically capable, customer-oriented, and environmentally conscious, looking to advance their careers in the waste management industry.
