Job Description
US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor in the United States, known for its extensive distribution network and commitment to quality and customer service. The company provides a diverse range of food products and services to a broad spectrum of customers, including restaurants, healthcare facilities, hospitality businesses, and other foodservice operators. As one of the largest food distributors in the country, US Foods prides itself on its culture and history of promoting from within, comprehensive training programs, and a strong focus on continuous improvement. They offer a workplace environment that fosters growth, teamwork, and dedication to excellence, making it an attractive employer for individuals interested in a long-term career in the foodservice industry.
The position of US Foods Driver is a crucial role within the organization, responsible for safely delivering food products to customers on schedule while maintaining a professional and customer-focused demeanor. As a US Foods Driver, you will be operating commercial trucks to deliver products, ensuring the accuracy of deliveries, handling unloading with appropriate equipment, and performing all necessary inspections of your vehicle before and after trips. Your role not only involves driving but also ensuring excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients and handling collections and payments when required. This position demands physical stamina, as lifting and moving products weighing between 20 to 80 pounds repetitively is part of the daily duties, along with working in various weather conditions and frequent stops.
Applicants must have a valid CDL Class A license with the necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications, be at least 21 years old, and possess a minimum of six months of commercial driving experience in any industry or three months within the food or beverage delivery sector. The ability to operate manual transmissions is preferred and may be required in some locations. Drivers must also be registered with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, a federal requirement to ensure compliance with drug and alcohol regulations affecting commercial drivers. Beyond the technical qualifications, successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills, able to read and follow highway traffic signs, respond to inquiries, and accurately complete required documentation.
US Foods offers a competitive compensation package with a base pay rate of approximately $300 per day plus various incentives, including overtime pay and additional compensation based on mileage, stops, or cases delivered. Benefits are comprehensive, encompassing medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401K retirement plans, life insurance, and other pre-tax spending accounts. Paid time off, short-term and long-term disability coverage, employee stock purchase programs, and a safety culture committed to employee well-being further enrich the benefits package.
Working as a US Foods Driver means joining a community that values integrity, reliability, and a collaborative spirit. Drivers are considered ambassadors of the company and play an essential role in fostering positive customer relationships and ensuring successful delivery operations. The company emphasizes total rewards that respect and reward its employees for their hard work and dedication, providing opportunities for career advancement and personal growth within the organization. This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to build a career in the dynamic foodservice industry while enjoying a supportive work environment and strong leadership.
