At Hummingbird Wholesale, collaboration and productivity are key values, and the team deeply believes in working effectively and efficiently while enjoying strong connections with one another. The company holds a strong mission, vision, and set of values that guide its daily operations and workplace culture. As a business committed to ecological and social justice, Hummingbird Wholesale focuses on providing nutritious, locally and sustainably grown food while minimizing packaging and waste. As of January 2023, the company transitioned ownership to an Employee Owned Purpose Trust, which secures and guides the mission and values of the business into the future, emphasizing a sustainable food production system that supports both people and the planet.
The CDL Delivery Driver position at Hummingbird Wholesale is a pivotal role within the Logistics department, reporting directly to the Logistics Manager. This is a full-time, non-exempt position requiring 40 hours per week, with an essential component of overnight travel 2-3 nights a week. The role involves the timely and accurate delivery of organic products to customers via commercial vehicle, ensuring exceptional customer service, communication, and attention to detail throughout each delivery route. Safety compliance is paramount, requiring adherence to all Department of Transportation regulations and company safety protocols to protect coworkers, the public, and equipment.
This driver position operates a Class B commercial vehicle with an air brake endorsement, requiring thorough pre- and post-trip inspections and proper maintenance reporting. The driver must manage delivery windows, accurately process paperwork and payments, and engage with customers positively to build lasting relationships. The role also includes responsibilities like identifying sales opportunities, providing feedback on route efficiency, and supporting sustainability initiatives to reduce waste. Hummingbird Wholesale values a strong safety culture and teamwork, expecting the driver to contribute actively to these efforts. This role qualifies for per diem compensation in addition to the competitive wage.
At Hummingbird Wholesale, employees enjoy a positive, healthy, and fun work environment. The company offers extensive benefits including health insurance options, paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, a 401(k) plan with profit sharing, and unique perks such as self-care stipends and wholesale pricing on natural food products. Employees are encouraged to grow personally and professionally while upholding the company’s high standards for food safety, customer service, and sustainability.
