Job Description
SRS Distribution Inc., including its subsidiaries such as Colonial Materials, Inc., is a leading national building materials distributor committed to delivering high-quality products to commercial and residential customers across the United States. With a strong focus on customer service and a reputation for reliability, the company values its employees as essential assets and invests significantly in their professional growth and work-life balance. Operating a wide distribution network, SRS Distribution ensures that materials are delivered safely, timely, and undamaged, supporting construction and remodeling projects of all sizes.
The Delivery Driver position at Colonial Materials, located in Wilmington, NC, is a key role within the company's operations. This position involves the safe and efficient operation of commercial motor vehicles, primarily flatbed or boom trucks, to transport building materials to various job sites. The driver must ensure compliance with all company policies, Federal and State regulations, and maintain the integrity of freight during transit. As part of a collaborative team, the driver is responsible for loading and unloading materials while providing exceptional customer service and fostering positive relationships with clients.
This role demands physical stamina, as the driver frequently lifts and handles heavy materials weighing up to 100 pounds. Attention to safety and regulatory compliance is critical, including performing pre-trip inspections, maintaining accurate records, and reporting incidents promptly. The Delivery Driver must also have a clear understanding of Department of Transportation regulations and a valid commercial driver’s license, with a minimum Class B endorsement required and Class A strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate will exhibit strong interpersonal skills, a professional attitude, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team. Core competencies expected include integrity, servant leadership, effective communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage stress and multitask in a dynamic environment. The driver must also be comfortable operating vehicles for extended periods, working outdoors in various weather conditions, and engaging continuously with customers and coworkers to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
SRS Distribution offers competitive salaries paid weekly, with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans with company matching, paid time off, and wellness programs. Employees are encouraged to grow professionally through development and training programs, supported by an inclusive and empowering work culture.
Because SRS Distribution is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer, it embraces diversity and inclusion in all hiring practices and workplace policies, ensuring a respectful and supportive environment for all team members. This opportunity presents a stable career path in the growing building materials industry, with chances for advancement within a respected national leader, making it an excellent choice for dedicated and motivated drivers.
