Job Description

US Foods is one of the largest food distributors in the United States, renowned for its extensive product offerings and commitment to customer service. The company prides itself on a strong culture and history of promoting from within, providing excellent training programs, and fostering a continuous improvement mindset. With a focus on reliability, professionalism, and integrity, US Foods has established itself as a leader in the food service industry, supplying food and related products to a wide variety of customers across the country.

This role offers a unique opportunity to join the team as a US Foods driver, a position key to ensuring timely delivery and customer satisfaction. The position is full-time with shift schedules of either 5/8 or 4/10, meaning drivers are home every night and have the chance to earn daily overtime after completing 8 or 10 hours of work. Shift options are Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday, with early morning start times from 3am to 6am. The expected base pay for this role is $34.04 per hour, with additional overtime compensation. This employment also includes a competitive benefits package featuring health insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, employee stock purchase plans, and pre-tax spending accounts.

In this driver position, you will be responsible for safely operating trucks to deliver food products to customers while adhering to scheduled delivery times. The job requires carefully unloading products with equipment such as two-wheelers or pallet jacks and placing items in designated customer storage areas. Accuracy in delivery verification and obtaining customer signatures is essential, as well as handling collections or payments when applicable. Providing exceptional customer service is a critical part of the role, helping to enhance the client experience and maintain strong relationships. Drivers are also required to perform pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections to ensure vehicle safety and operational reliability.

Physical requirements include the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 20 to over 80 pounds repeatedly throughout each shift. Drivers must be comfortable working and driving in inclement weather conditions and making frequent stops—more than 10 stops per shift are typical. Candidates must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, which tracks commercial drivers' drug and alcohol program violations, a Department of Transportation mandate.

To qualify, candidates must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid CDL Class A license issued by their state of legal residence. Necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications are required. A minimum of six months commercial driving experience in any industry, or at least three months within food or beverage delivery, is required. The ability to operate a manual transmission is preferred and may be a requirement in specific locations. Good communication skills in English are necessary to read and understand highway signs and signals and to maintain records and reports.

Joining US Foods means becoming part of a company dedicated not only to helping its customers make it with high-quality products and services but also committed to helping its associates build rewarding careers. The drivers at US Foods represent the face of the organization both on and off the road, reflecting the company's core cultural beliefs and dedication to providing top-tier service. Total Rewards programs help recognize and reward employees’ hard work and dedication, fostering a positive work environment and opportunities for growth. If you are ready to drive your career forward with a leading food service company, this position offers the chance to do just that while enjoying a supportive and dynamic work culture.
