The role of Driver, CDL-B at Performance Foodservice is crucial to the company’s operations and its customers. This position involves driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on various routes including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. The driver is responsible for delivering and unloading food and related products safely, timely, and in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Beyond transportation duties, the driver represents the face of the company to customers, building strong professional relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include conducting pre- and post-trip safety inspections, adhering strictly to DOT regulations, handling customer orders and paperwork accurately, managing freight loading and unloading, and communicating effectively with customers and team members. This role requires attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as hand-lifting, using lift gates, and operating material handling equipment. Job Requirements
- Twelve months commercial driving experience
- high school diploma or GED or state approved equivalent
- valid CDL B license
- meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
- must be 21 years of age
- clean motor vehicle report for past three years
- pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- pass road test
- valid current DOT health card or ability to secure new DOT health card
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and other equipment to move and stack product cases/freight ranging from 10-90 pounds
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Perform safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer in compliance with DOT regulations
- report safety issues and repair requirements promptly
- follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies
- perform count checks and verify customer invoices for loaded products
- complete accurate and legible paperwork associated with freight
- move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as needed
- drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route schedules
- unload and transport products into designated customer storage areas
- perform damage control checks, scan items, and notify supervisors of issues
- verify delivery with customer and obtain signatures
- collect payments where required
- load customer returns on trailers and secure doors
- ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are always locked and secured
- unload damaged goods and returns and complete necessary paperwork
- remove equipment and trash from trailers as required
- complete daily hours of service logs following DOT and company requirements
- perform housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock
- secure equipment and complete paperwork at shift end
- perform other related duties as assigned
