Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline food distributor that partners with a diverse range of local customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company is dedicated to supporting America’s food supply chain by delivering high-quality food products and outstanding service. With a team comprised of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts, Performance Foodservice not only supplies food but also offers operational guidance, menu development insights, and product selection advice to help independent restaurant owners and other customers succeed. The company prides itself on fostering close relationships with its clients and contributing to their growth in the competitive foodservice industry.
The position available is for a CDL-A Delivery Driver within Performance Foodservice. This role plays an indispensable part in the country’s food supply chain, ensuring that food and food-related products are delivered safely, accurately, and on time to customers. Drivers serve as the face of Performance Foodservice, building strong and lasting relationships with customers while upholding the company’s standards of excellence. The job offers a competitive salary starting at $95,000 per year, including a $7,500 welcome bonus (terms apply), with home daily routes scheduled from Sunday through Thursday nights. This employment opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking a stable career with growth potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The CDL-A Delivery Driver is responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight runs. The role demands strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company safety policies, and federal, state, and local laws. Drivers perform essential vehicle safety checks, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring that their vehicles meet all safety standards. They are also accountable for loading, unloading, and securing freight appropriately, conducting damage control, and efficiently managing paperwork related to deliveries and freight. The driver coordinates with customers to verify deliveries and obtain signatures while maintaining professional communication with vendors, co-workers, and clients.
This position also demands physical stamina, as drivers are required to hand-lift and use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move product cases weighing between 10 and 90 pounds depending on the location. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are critical to preventing accidents and ensuring customer satisfaction. Performance Foodservice values diversity and inclusiveness, providing equal employment opportunities and a workplace culture that emphasizes rewards, recognition, and respect. Drivers benefit from a comprehensive package of benefits, including day-one health and wellness coverage, employee stock purchase plan, 401K with employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more.
Overall, this role is perfectly suited for motivated individuals with a clean driving record, valid CDL-A license, and a passion for reliable and professional food delivery. Performance Foodservice offers not only a competitive salary but also opportunities to advance one’s career in a company that is a trusted leader in the foodservice distribution industry.
