Job Description
Performance Food Group (PFG) is a leading broadline food distributor dedicated to serving a diverse range of local customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. PFG goes beyond simply delivering high-quality food products; it provides comprehensive solutions that support its customers’ operational success. This includes expert advice on menu development, product selection, operational strategies, and more. With a team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts, PFG has built strong relationships with its customers by helping independent restaurant owners and foodservice providers achieve their business goals. Known for its commitment to delivering outstanding service, PFG emphasizes safety, inclusivity, and respect within the workplace, creating an environment where employees are rewarded, recognized, and supported.
The company offers competitive compensation and a robust benefits package that includes day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and ample growth opportunities. Safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations are a top priority, highlighting PFG’s dedication to maintaining the highest standards in food distribution and transportation. They are currently expanding their team, offering a night-shift Shuttle Driver position with a competitive pay starting at $300+ per night. The shift runs Sunday through Thursday nights with start times that may vary.
The Shuttle Driver role is essential in the company’s food distribution operations. This position involves the transportation of empty and full trailers between operating company warehouse locations, domicile yards, and shuttle yards. Operating a tandem trailer, tractor-trailer, or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes, the Shuttle Driver ensures that product deliveries and trailer movements are executed safely, punctually, and in compliance with DOT safety laws. The role requires direct communication and coordination with customers, vendors, and internal team members, emphasizing professional interaction and accurate, timely responses to inquiries.
Responsibilities for the Shuttle Driver revolve around conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections on vehicles and trailers, ensuring all freight is properly loaded and secured, performing hook/unhook procedures, and managing route paperwork efficiently. Drivers must also park equipment correctly, secure freight and damaged goods, unload materials when necessary, and maintain cleanliness in trailers and docking areas. Additionally, drivers must keep detailed records of hours worked and comply with federal, state, and company regulations related to hours of service and vehicle operation. The position demands a high level of physical activity, including hand-lifting product cases ranging between 60 and 90 pounds, and the use of equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to maneuver freight.
PFG fosters a safe and inclusive work environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, promoting diversity regardless of race, gender, disability, or other protected statuses. This role is ideal for experienced commercial drivers seeking a rewarding position with a company committed to employee development, safety, and the essential delivery of America’s food distribution system.
