The Shuttle Driver position is a vital role within the organization, responsible for ensuring the timely and safe transport of empty and full trailers across the company’s delivery network. Offering an $8,000 sign-on bonus and a competitive annual pay range from $73,000 to $90,000, the role is structured around a Sunday through Thursday schedule with dispatching around 5:00 pm, involving 10 to 12-hour driving shifts. This full-time role requires a valid CDL Class A license with doubles endorsement and significant experience handling tandem trailers and tractor-trailers on both intrastate and interstate routes.

As a Shuttle Driver, the selected candidate will be expected to drive safely and efficiently to transport empty trailers to warehouse locations and return full trailers to domicile or shuttle yard points. The job demands consistent adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies. Drivers play a key part in maintaining the integrity of freight loads by conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and reporting any safety-related issues promptly. Additionally, Shuttle Drivers must complete all required route paperwork accurately and interact professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues.

The position requires performing safety checks, operating heavy-duty equipment for loading and unloading freight, securing cargo safely, maintaining cleanliness of vehicles and dock areas, and accurately logging hours of service in compliance with federal and state regulations. Strong teamwork and a willingness to perform additional duties to support organizational goals are also essential components of this role.

The ideal candidate will be a responsible and safety-conscious professional who meets all licensing requirements, passes necessary drug and road tests, and can physically handle the demands of the job, including lifting freight weighing between 60 and 90 pounds using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates. Working the 3rd shift schedule on Sunday through Thursday nights requires flexibility and dedication.

Join Performance Foodservice as a Shuttle Driver and become part of a dynamic, supportive team dedicated to delivering quality food products and outstanding service.
