It serves a diverse range of local customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on cultivating strong relationships with its customers through a team of dedicated sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts. This team offers vital support and advice on improving operational efficiency, menu development, product selection, and strategic planning to help businesses thrive. Performance Foodservice is committed to more than just delivering high-quality food products; it strives to empower and support independent restaurant owners to achieve their visions and dreams.
As a key player in the country’s food supply chain, Performance Foodservice operates with a mission to ensure fresh, timely, and reliable delivery of food and foodservice products. The company values safety, professionalism, and thoroughness in its delivery and operational practices which underpin its stellar customer service reputation. Employees at Performance Foodservice work in a collaborative, inclusive, and rewarding environment, backed by a culture that emphasizes respect, recognition, and career growth.
The available position is for a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver. This is a critical role within Performance Foodservice’s logistics operations, responsible for transporting food products safely and efficiently to various customer locations. The role requires an individual to drive tractor trailers or straight trucks on diverse routes including intrastate, interstate, and overnight routes. The position offers competitive compensation starting at $320 per day during a 5-week training period and exceeding $400 per day afterward, translating to an annual salary over $100,000. Importantly, this job includes no weekend work as shifts are scheduled Monday through Friday, typically spanning 8 to 10 hours, with a 2 AM dispatch time.
The delivery driver not only ensures timely delivery but also acts as the company's ambassador, establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships through professional communication and service. Responsibilities include thorough safety checks of vehicles and freight, compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, accurate completion of delivery paperwork, and meticulous handling of products during loading, transit, and unloading. Drivers must be prepared to do physical tasks such as hand-lifting and using equipment like hand trucks and lift gates. This role is pivotal in maintaining the integrity of the food supply chain and contributing directly to customer satisfaction.
In addition to a competitive salary, the company offers substantial benefits including Day 1 medical coverage, employee stock purchase plans, a 401K plan with employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off.
