Their unique business approach involves a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and various industry experts who work closely with customers. This collaboration is centered on improving operational efficiencies, developing menus, selecting quality products, and crafting effective operational strategies. Beyond delivering food, Performance Foodservice is committed to empowering independent restaurant owners and other customers to achieve greater success and fulfill their business dreams. The role of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is vital in maintaining the country’s food supply chain. The position is full-time with a weekday schedule (Monday through Friday), allowing no weekend work, and features dispatch hours starting at 2 AM and average shift lengths of 8-10 hours. The compensation begins at $320 per day during an initial five-week training period, thereafter rising to $400-plus per day, potentially exceeding an annual salary of $100K. This role is hands-on, involving touch freight, handling mixed pallets, and utilizing ramp/hand truck equipment. The job offers medical benefits starting immediately on day one.
This driver position requires operating either tractor trailers or straight trucks on both local and over-the-road (OTR) routes that may be intrastate or interstate, including shuttle and overnight shifts. A fundamental responsibility is to ensure that food and food-related products are delivered to customers on time and in excellent condition. The driver acts as the face of the company, building and maintaining strong customer relationships through professional, respectful interactions. Key duties encompass conducting safety checks and inspections compliant with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations before and after trips, accurately completing required paperwork, loading and unloading freight, damage control assessments, and handling customer payments when applicable. Drivers are also responsible for securing freight and equipment, maintaining cleanliness in vehicles and loading areas, and adhering strictly to all safety guidelines.
Performance Foodservice offers highly competitive pay and benefits, including health and wellness coverage from day one, an employee stock purchase plan, employer matching on 401K contributions, education assistance, paid time off, and other meaningful perks. The company emphasizes a safe and respectful work culture with opportunities for growth. This role is ideal for motivated individuals who take pride in their work, enjoy operating heavy vehicles and equipment, and value contributing directly to essential food distribution services that impact communities nationwide.
