Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a leading broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), is dedicated to serving a diverse range of customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a team of expert sales representatives, chefs, and consultants, Performance Foodservice builds close partnerships with its clients, offering tailored advice on menu development, product selection, operational strategies, and overall business improvement. This company is committed not only to delivering high-quality food products but also to empowering independent restaurant owners and other clients to achieve their business goals through exceptional service and support. Known for its inclusive and respectful work culture, Performance Foodservice provides equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees, ensuring a diverse and welcoming environment.

The position available is for a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver who plays an essential role in the country’s food supply chain. This role involves driving a tractor-trailer or straight truck on various routes including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive and drop routes. Drivers are tasked with delivering and/or unloading food and food-related products safely and on time in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The job is a full-time, Monday through Friday schedule with no weekend work, offering dispatch times as early as 2 AM and shifts averaging 8 to 10 hours.

Compensation for this role is competitive, starting at $320 per day during the 5-week training period, with an increase to $400+ per day (equivalent to over $100K annually) upon completion of training. Employees benefit from medical coverage starting from day one. Other significant benefits include participation in an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more.

The role demands more than just driving skills; drivers are the face of the company and are expected to foster lasting customer relationships. Responsibilities include performing pre- and post-trip safety inspections, ensuring all vehicles meet safety standards, communicating professionally with customers and co-workers, handling freight including mixed pallets and touch freight via ramp or hand trucks, and completing all necessary delivery paperwork accurately.

Additional duties involve unloading products, verifying deliveries with customers, managing cash or check collections where required, securing freight during transport, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the tractor, trailer, and dock area. Drivers are also responsible for complying strictly with DOT regulations and company safety policies, reporting safety hazards, and completing required logs and records of service hours.

Performance Foodservice emphasizes a safe and inclusive working environment where employees are recognized and rewarded.
