Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading supplier serving a diverse base of local customers which includes independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company is known for its dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and experts who collaborate closely to offer tailored advice aimed at improving clients' operational efficiencies, menu development, product selection, and overall business strategies. With a commitment not just to delivering exceptional food products but also to empowering independent restaurant owners to achieve their ambitions, Performance Foodservice has cemented its reputation as a trusted partner in the food distribution landscape.
Performance Foodservice is currently seeking qualified CDL-A Drivers to join their logistics team. This full-time role involves a work schedule that runs Monday through Friday, with shifts averaging 10 hours starting with dispatch at 2 AM, with no weekend work requirements. Drivers benefit from competitive pay with daily wages averaging $420 on routes and a training pay of $320 daily, along with a minimum daily guarantee of $400. The role involves handling touch freight, mixed pallets, and performing ramp and hand truck work as part of the delivery process.
The CDL-A Driver position is critical to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of America’s food supply chain. Drivers act not only as the operators delivering product but also as the face of the company, responsible for building strong, lasting relationships with customers. Responsibilities include operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on routes that may be intrastate, interstate, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, or drive and drop. Safety is paramount, with adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies being a fundamental aspect of the role.
Primary duties include performing pre- and post-trip safety inspections on vehicles, ensuring freight is properly secured, and managing all required paperwork to document deliveries accurately. Drivers will engage professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers while contributing to a team-oriented environment. Additionally, drivers handle loading and unloading of products, damage control checks, and ensure secure transport of goods. Completion of daily hours of service logs and maintaining cleanliness in work areas are also integral parts of the position.
The company offers comprehensive benefits from day one including health and wellness programs, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. Performance Foodservice fosters a safe and inclusive work environment built on respect, recognition, and reward, enabling employees to thrive and grow within the company.
