This company prides itself on building strong and meaningful relationships with its clients by providing not only quality food products but also expert advice and support to improve operations, menu development, product selection, and overall business strategies. The experienced team at Performance Foodservice, consisting of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other specialists, is committed to helping independent restaurant owners and foodservice operators achieve their dreams and elevate their business performance. With a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, Performance Foodservice is a trusted partner in the food distribution industry.
The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is a critical role within the company’s supply chain, responsible for the safe and timely delivery of food and food-related products to a variety of customer locations. This job is essential in maintaining the flow of goods that support America’s food distribution system. The role involves operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks on intrastate, interstate, and over-the-road (OTR) routes including shuttles and overnight deliveries. Drivers are expected to handle touch freight, mixed pallets, and ramp or hand truck work, ensuring careful handling of products to maintain product integrity.
Working Monday through Friday with dispatch starting early at 2 AM, this position offers an average 10-hour shift without weekend work, providing a balanced work schedule. Compensation includes competitive pay with an average daily rate of $420 and a guaranteed minimum of $400 daily. Training pay is set at $320 daily, ensuring new drivers receive support as they learn company procedures and routes.
Beyond competitive compensation, employees enjoy a range of benefits such as day-one health and wellness coverage, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. Performance Foodservice fosters a safe and inclusive workplace culture that rewards and recognizes the efforts of its team members, emphasizing respect and collaboration.
Key responsibilities for this role include conducting thorough safety inspections pre- and post-trip, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and performing various operational duties such as loading, unloading, securing freight, managing paperwork, and communicating effectively with customers and colleagues. Drivers are the face of Performance Foodservice in the field and are expected to uphold the company’s high standards for service quality, safety, and professionalism.
This role requires physical capability for handling freight ranging from 10 to 90 pounds using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates, ensuring efficient and safe delivery and stock handling. The position demands a clean driving record, compliance with all licensing and health requirements, and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
Joining Performance Foodservice means becoming part of an essential service provider to the food industry, contributing to the health and nourishment of communities while enjoying excellent career growth opportunities, comprehensive benefits, and a positive workplace environment. This is an ideal opportunity for professional drivers seeking stable employment with a respected company that values its employees and customers equally.
