Job Description

Performance Foodservice is a leading broadline distributor dedicated to serving a diverse range of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. With a workforce that comprises sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and industry experts, the company goes beyond just delivering delicious food by providing key advisory services to help their clients enhance operations, refine menu development, and optimize product selection and operational strategies. This holistic approach has earned Performance Foodservice a notable reputation in the food distribution industry, dedicated to supporting local businesses and helping independent restaurant owners realize their entrepreneurial goals.

The company promotes a culture defined by a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, national origin, gender identity, and other protected statuses. Employees benefit from a safe and inclusive environment that recognizes and rewards contributions while maintaining respect throughout the organization.

The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is integral to the nation’s food supply chain. Drivers in this role are responsible for the timely and safe delivery of food and food service products across intrastate and interstate routes including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight runs. This role not only requires operational driving skills but also places drivers as key representatives of the company, tasked with forging and maintaining strong relationships with customers through professional and courteous interactions.

This role demands a high level of responsibility, including performing pre and post-trip inspections, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, securing freight, handling paperwork accurately, and managing cash or check transactions if required. Drivers must be capable of physically handling loads ranging generally from 10 to 35 pounds, with some items up to 90 pounds.

Performance Foodservice emphasizes safety, professionalism, and customer service excellence, encouraging teamwork and ensuring all deliveries are executed in compliance with federal, state, and company guidelines. The company also offers growth opportunities, benefits starting from day one, such as health and wellness plans, 401K employer matching, stock purchase plans, paid time off, and education assistance, making it an attractive employer for experienced CDL-A drivers looking to advance their careers within the food distribution sector.
