Job Description
Dawn Foods is a globally recognized leader in bakery manufacturing and ingredients distribution. As a family-owned company with over 100 years of service, Dawn Foods has built a strong reputation as the partner of choice for inspiring bakery success. The company supports its customers with meaningful partnerships, research-driven insights, industry innovations, and high-quality products and expertise that customers can rely on. Dawn Foods is committed to its people, products, customers, and corporate values, all of which contribute to its long-standing success in the food industry. The company is dedicated to fostering a supportive work environment that values teamwork and professional growth, making it an ideal employer for individuals seeking a stable and rewarding career.
The role of CDL Class A Driver at Dawn Foods involves safely and efficiently transporting bakery products from the distribution center to various customer locations by driving a tractor-trailer. This full-time, benefits-eligible position requires the driver to properly deliver and unload products according to customer invoices and company standards, ensuring that every delivery meets the high quality and service expectations of Dawn Foods. Drivers will interact daily with customers, representing Dawn Foods professionally and courteously, while following all federal, state, and local regulations including Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines and safe food handling procedures.
Working as a CDL Class A Driver at Dawn Foods offers many advantages including competitive pay of $31.60 per hour, a $10,000 signing bonus, industry-leading health insurance starting on day one, a 401(k) plan with company match, 10 paid company holidays, paid time off, and professional training opportunities. The company also provides equipment support such as automatic transmission vehicles, trailers with liftgates rather than ramps, and electric pallet jacks and forklifts to assist with deliveries. Drivers benefit from a career path with opportunities for advancement within a family-owned business that values an empowered workforce.
The shift schedule is Monday through Friday with an average of 5 days per week depending on the route. Start times range from 3:00 am to 7:00 am and end times vary based on route completion between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm. Routes will not exceed DOT hours and weekend work may be required based on business needs. Drivers will also be expected to complete a minimum of two overnight layover routes per week.
This position demands physical strength and stamina, as drivers will need to consistently lift 50+ pounds and operate material handling equipment. The work environment includes exposure to outdoor elements and potential allergens such as peanut products, dairy, eggs, and gluten. Candidates must have good motor coordination, vision, and the ability to withstand varying temperatures. Overall, this role is suited for individuals who are committed to safety, customer service excellence, and have the physical capability to meet the demands of delivery driving in the food service industry.
