Job Description
Dawn Foods is a renowned global leader in bakery manufacturing and ingredients distribution, serving as the partner of choice for businesses looking to succeed in the bakery industry. As a family-owned company with over 100 years of service, Dawn Foods has built its reputation on commitments to its people, products, customers, and core corporate values. The company's mission is to help customers grow their businesses through meaningful partnerships, innovation driven by research insights, and reliable products backed by expert knowledge. Dawn Foods operates with a strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction, making it a trusted provider in the food service and retail sectors worldwide.
Working at Dawn Foods means being part of an empowering and collaborative workforce. The company offers a full-time, benefits-eligible position for CDL Class A Drivers, who play a critical role in the supply chain by ensuring products are safely and efficiently transported from distribution centers to customers. Drivers at Dawn Foods not only deliver merchandise but also represent the company professionally during all customer interactions, embodying the company’s values of excellence and service. Dawn Foods provides competitive compensation, including $30.85 per hour pay and a $10,000 signing bonus while enrolling employees in industry-leading health insurance on their first day and offering additional benefits such as a 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and paid company holidays. The company supports career growth through ongoing professional training and ride-along opportunities.
The CDL Class A Driver position at Dawn Foods encompasses both yard and route coverage in a floater role, with schedules primarily spanning Sunday through Friday and averaging 40 hours weekly. Shift start times vary from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, with end times aligned to route completion. Routes comply with DOT hour regulations and include a mix of local deliveries and a minimum of 1-2 overnight layover routes weekly. Drivers operate tractor-trailers equipped with automatic transmissions, liftgate trailers (no ramps), multi-temperature trailers, and specialized equipment required for food service product delivery. The role involves unloading with electric pallet jacks and forklifts while performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections and managing invoice receipts.
The physical demands of this role require the driver to frequently lift objects weighing 50 pounds or more and operate motor equipment with dexterity while often working in outdoor environments exposed to varying weather conditions and potential allergens such as peanut products, dairy, and gluten. Candidates must possess a Class A CDL license in good standing, hold a minimum of six months of commercial driving experience, and be at least 21 years old. Additional preferred qualifications include experience with food service deliveries, electric pallet jacks, liftgates, and electronic logging systems.
Dawn Foods values its employees deeply and fosters a culture of respect and inclusion, welcoming applicants from diverse backgrounds. The company’s comprehensive benefits package and commitment to career development make it an excellent place for professionals seeking to advance their careers within the food manufacturing and transportation industry.
