These include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare establishments, schools, and quick-service eateries. Their dedicated team, consisting of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and various industry experts, works closely with customers to provide tailored advice on multiple operational aspects such as menu development, product selection, and overall strategic improvement. This commitment to personalized service helps independent restaurant owners and other clients improve their operations and achieve their business goals. Performance Foodservice is not just about delivering quality food products; it is about fostering lasting relationships and supporting success in the foodservice industry.
The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is a vital position within the company’s operational framework. This position reflects the company's commitment to excellence and safe delivery services. As a CDL-A Driver, you will be responsible for transporting food and food-related products efficiently and safely across intrastate and interstate routes. The role involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks for local, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop deliveries, ensuring that products reach customers on schedule and in impeccable condition.
This full-time position operates Monday through Friday and offers a competitive training component pay of $25.00 per hour, making it an attractive opportunity for drivers seeking steady employment with benefits. Working as a CDL-A Driver at Performance Foodservice means being the face of the company, interacting professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers to foster strong customer relations. You are not just a driver but a key ambassador of the brand, ensuring top-tier service throughout the delivery process.
Primary duties include conducting safety checks pre- and post-trip in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, reporting any mechanical or safety issues, loading and unloading goods, and verifying deliveries with the customers. The driver must also maintain accurate documentation, secure freight and equipment, and perform general housekeeping duties to keep operational areas safe and clean. The role requires physical capability for handling freight cases ranging in weight, use of equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates, and adherence to stringent safety standards.
Performance Foodservice emphasizes a safe and inclusive working environment that rewards hard work and dedication. Benefits include day-one health and wellness coverage, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and much more. The company fosters growth opportunities and career advancement, allowing employees to develop within the essential food distribution sector they support.
Candidates must hold a valid CDL-A license, meet age and licensing criteria, and possess a clean Motor Vehicle Report for the past three years. The company values veterans and military-friendly hires, aligning with its commitment to diversity and inclusion. Other requirements include passing a post-offer drug test, criminal background check, road test, and securing or maintaining a valid DOT health card.
Performance Foodservice stands out not only for its quality products and excellent customer service but also for its dedication to employing people who take pride in fulfilling a crucial role in the country’s food supply chain. As a CDL-A Driver with this company, you become an integral part of a team that delivers the goods efficiently, safely, and with respect to both customers and co-workers. This role is perfect for individuals looking for reliable employment with room for professional growth in a supportive and rewarding environment.
