Job Description

Performance Foodservice is a leading broadline distributor in the foodservice industry, known for its commitment to quality, customer service, and operational excellence. As part of Performance Food Group, the company serves a diverse array of customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The organization prides itself on cultivating strong relationships with customers through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and operational experts who provide valuable advice on menu development, product selection, and overall operational strategies. This collaborative approach ensures that customers not only receive high-quality food products but also gain the support needed to enhance their businesses and achieve their goals. Performance Foodservice’s reputation is built on reliability, integrity, and a culture that values safety and inclusiveness.

The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice plays a vital role in supporting the nation’s food supply chain by ensuring timely and safe delivery of food and related products. This role involves driving a tractor trailer or straight truck for both intrastate and interstate routes, including local routes, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight delivery schedules. Candidates for this position will operate primarily on local routes with a Monday to Friday schedule, returning home daily, beginning with early morning dispatch. The role offers competitive pay with an average annual salary ranging from $65,000 to $85,000, alongside comprehensive benefits starting from day one.

The CDL-A Driver must adhere strictly to Department of Transportation regulations, company safety guidelines, and operational standards. This includes conducting pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment, ensuring cargo is safely loaded and secured, and maintaining accurate delivery documentation. Beyond driving, the CDL-A Driver is a key brand ambassador, fostering strong, positive interactions with customers, vendors, and co-workers while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor. The position also involves physical tasks such as loading and unloading freight, utilizing equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates, and performing general housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and safety of equipment and facilities.

Performance Foodservice emphasizes a safe and inclusive working environment where employees are recognized, rewarded, and respected. The company provides boots and protective gear, supports employee health and wellness, and offers numerous opportunities for growth and advancement within the organization. Employees benefit from a comprehensive package that includes health insurance, a 401K plan with employer matching, an employee stock purchase plan, educational assistance, and paid time off.

This role is ideal for individuals with a commercial driving background, who hold a valid CDL-A license, and who are committed to safety, customer service, and operational excellence. The CDL-A Driver is fundamental to maintaining the seamless operation of the food distribution network and ensuring that the end customers — often businesses that depend on timely deliveries for their daily operations — receive their products reliably and in excellent condition.
