The Performance team is made up of dedicated sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts who build and nurture these relationships by offering valuable advice on improving operations, developing menus, selecting products, and streamlining operational strategies. The company’s mission goes far beyond merely delivering food products; it focuses on helping independent restaurant owners and other clients achieve their dreams by providing superior service and support.
With a commitment to equal employment opportunity and an inclusive culture, Performance Foodservice fosters a rewarding environment rooted in respect, recognition, and safety. The company is recognized for its culture of growth and opportunity, offering competitive pay, day one health and wellness benefits, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. Their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion ensures a welcoming and respectful workplace for all employees.
The CDL-A Driver role is an integral part of ensuring the smooth and timely delivery of food and food-related products. This position is essential for supporting the critical food supply chain across the nation. CDL-A Drivers are responsible not only for operating tractor trailers and straight trucks on varied routes—including intrastate and interstate runs, local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes—but also for providing outstanding customer service as the face of Performance Foodservice.
This full-time position offers a competitive salary range averaging between $77,000 and $88,000, with potential earnings reaching up to $90,000 annually. After the training period, employees enjoy a 4-day workweek with variable shift dispatch start times typically between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m.
CDL-A Drivers must adhere strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company safety policies, and quality standards. Duties include conducting thorough safety inspections of vehicles and freight, performing accurate inventory checks, ensuring secure and timely deliveries, obtaining customer signatures, handling payments where necessary, and performing basic housekeeping duties related to their vehicle and loading dock area. Drivers are expected to work collaboratively with vendors, customers, and colleagues, maintaining a professional demeanor and effective communication at all times.
This role requires physical stamina including hand-lifting cases ranging generally from 10 to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 90 pounds, utilizing equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move freight safely. CDL-A Drivers also must maintain compliance with state and federal licensing requirements, pass safety and road tests, and uphold a clean motor vehicle record.
In summary, Performance Foodservice seeks motivated CDL-A Drivers who are safety-conscious, customer-focused, and ready to contribute to an essential service that supports the success of local businesses and the broader food ecosystem. With robust support, competitive compensation, and a strong culture of inclusion and respect, this role presents a promising career opportunity for qualified individuals in the logistics and transportation industry.
