This particular role is an entry-level Driver Trainee position within PFG Customized Distribution. The Driver Trainee position is a critical starting point for individuals interested in a career in trucking and logistics. The trainee is responsible for learning and gaining hands-on experience driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on interstate local, regional, and overnight routes. The primary responsibility of the role is to safely deliver and unload various food and food-related products to customers while adhering to strict company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role includes following training programs like the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program. Trainees assist and ride along with a trainer to acquire on-the-road experience while performing all necessary safety checks and inspections before and after trips. These safety checks encompass the tractor, trailer, and freight to maintain high safety and compliance standards.

Driver Trainees must learn to properly load and unload freight, verify deliveries with customer signatures, and adhere to company customer service practices. The position often requires the use of equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates to help move products and manage freight of varying weights, frequently ranging from 60 to 90 pounds. Additionally, the role demands that the driver maintain cleanliness within the tractor and loading dock area and complete all necessary paperwork regarding deliveries and vehicle logs. This is a full-time position with a four-night workweek schedule, dispatch hours typically between 8:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., ensuring the driver is home daily. Compensation includes a weekly minimum guarantee that equates to an annual salary range of $80,000 to $90,000, aside from generous bonuses such as a $9,000 welcome bonus for new employees and a $2,500 referral bonus for current employees.
