Job Description
Performance Food Group Customized Distribution (PFG Customized Distribution) is a leading foodservice distributor specializing in delivering customized solutions to meet the unique needs of some of America’s most recognized national chain restaurants. This includes popular names such as Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday's, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Ruby Tuesday among others. PFG Customized Distribution is committed to providing personalized attention through centralized contact points for product lines, menu changes, and account coordination, ensuring excellent customer service and operational efficiency. Serving customers across the United States and more than 40 countries worldwide, PFG Customized Distribution stands out for its dedication to quality, reliability, and customer-focused logistics. The organization fosters a culture of inclusion, safety, and professional growth while delivering essential food products for thousands of customers daily.
This job opening is for an entry-level Driver Trainee position, designed for individuals interested in starting a career in commercial driving within the food distribution sector. The role is integral to supporting America’s food distribution network by ensuring timely and safe deliveries of food and food-related products. Drivers are primarily responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. The position offers a competitive pay structure with a guaranteed weekly minimum income and includes a $9,000 welcome bonus for new employees and a $2,500 referral bonus for current employees who successfully refer new drivers (terms apply).
The shift schedule is structured around a four-night workweek, dispatching between 8:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., which supports a work-life balance with home daily commitments. PFG Customized Distribution emphasizes a safe and respectful working environment, encouraging employee growth through comprehensive training programs such as the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program. Trainees receive hands-on experience by riding with experienced drivers and progressively learning to perform deliveries and comply with all safety regulations, including Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
This role involves maintaining and completing all necessary documentation, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections, freight checks, and hours of service logs, in accordance with DOT and company standards. Trainees are expected to develop professional communication skills with customers, vendors, and colleagues to maintain high service standards. The company also provides substantial benefits from day one, including health and wellness coverage, stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, educational assistance, and paid time off. This role is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals who aspire to build a long-term career in the transportation and logistics industry with a reputable and supportive employer.
