Job Description
PFG Customized Distribution is a leading foodservice distribution company dedicated to meeting the unique needs of some of America’s most recognized national chain restaurants such as Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday’s, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Ruby Tuesday. With a wide-reaching presence across the United States and in more than 40 countries, PFG Customized Distribution specializes in providing tailored services that ensure efficient delivery and smooth product transitions for numerous restaurant partners. Known for its commitment to high-quality service and customer satisfaction, the company offers a centralized point of contact for product lines, menu changes, and account coordination, positioning itself as a vital link in the food supply chain. The company fosters a culture of inclusion, respect, and recognition, underpinned by equal employment opportunity policies that embrace diversity and protect employees’ rights.
The Driver Trainee position is an entry-level role designed for individuals eager to develop their skills and gain hands-on experience in the transportation and logistics sector. This role involves learning to operate tractor trailers or straight trucks both intrastate and interstate, encompassing local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight delivery routes. The position offers a competitive weekly minimum guarantee pay of $1,450, equating to an annual salary range between $80,000 and $90,000, alongside a four-night workweek schedule with dispatch times between 8:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. This schedule offers a unique work-life balance opportunity for those suited to evening and nighttime hours.
As a Driver Trainee, you will participate in comprehensive training programs, including the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program. You will receive close mentorship from experienced driver trainers, assisting in deliveries and adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards. Responsibilities include performing pre- and post-trip safety inspections, ensuring proper loading and securing of freight, keeping detailed delivery records, and maintaining communication with customers, vendors, and team members. Professionalism and safety form the core of this role, with an emphasis on contributing to a safe and supportive team environment.
Successful candidates can expect to engage with a supportive culture that emphasizes growth and development opportunities, along with benefits starting from the first day of employment. Benefits such as health and wellness programs, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance programs, paid time off, and more reflect the company’s commitment to its workforce. The company’s dedication to maintaining a safe, inclusive workplace and its robust recognition programs highlight the value it places on its team, ensuring that each member is respected and rewarded appropriately.
Joining PFG Customized Distribution as a Driver Trainee not only offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package but also provides a foundational career pathway into the vital and rewarding logistics and transportation industry. This role is perfect for motivated individuals who seek to build a lasting career with a respected company that values safety, professionalism, and employee development.
