This entry-level Driver Trainee role is designed for individuals looking to begin or advance their careers in the trucking and logistics industry. As a Driver Trainee, you will gain hands-on experience driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on local, regional, and overnight routes. The position offers opportunities to learn under the guidance of experienced driver trainers while adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies. The role requires professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers, contributing to excellent customer service and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include completing all required safety inspections, delivering and unloading food and related products safely, managing freight according to standards, and maintaining accurate delivery documentation.

The position offers several attractive benefits including a $9,000 welcome bonus for new employees and a $2,500 referral bonus for current employees, subject to terms. Drivers work a four-night work week with dispatch times between 8:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m., benefitting from a weekly minimum wage guarantee of $1,450, which equates to an annual salary range between $80,000 and $90,000. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid CDL A license
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and operate equipment to move product cases weighing 60 to 90 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Internal PFG candidates with 1 year of service in good standing
  • External entry level hires with 0-6 months with a CDL
  • Valid CDL A license
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and use equipment to move product cases

Job Duties

  • Attend and successfully complete PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program
  • Ride with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries
  • Perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight and complete accurate paperwork
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to delivery schedule
  • Unload products, perform damage control, verify deliveries, and collect payments where required
