As a company, Performance Foodservice supports independent restaurant owners not only by delivering food but by fostering long-term success, helping them achieve their business dreams with partnership and expertise.
At Performance Foodservice, the commitment to a safe, inclusive, and rewarding working environment is paramount. The company offers competitive compensation, including an average annual pay ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 depending on the delivery route, and a comprehensive benefits package effective from day one of employment. Employees enjoy health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. Work schedules generally cover Monday through Friday with early dispatches from 3:00 AM to 5:00 AM, encompassing 12 to 13-hour routes. Growth opportunities abound within the company, allowing employees to play an essential role in supporting America’s food distribution system.
The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is a vital role in the food supply chain, responsible for the safe and timely delivery of food and foodservice products across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and drive-and-drop assignments. Serving as the face of the company, CDL-A Drivers establish and maintain crucial customer relationships, ensuring that all deliveries meet company standards and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Drivers are expected to perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, handle freight securely, manage required paperwork, and comply with all federal and state transportation laws.
Additional responsibilities include professional communication with customers, vendors, and colleagues, managing cash or check collections when required, unloading and transporting goods to designated areas, and performing damage control checks. The role demands physical stamina for handling freight, often ranging from 10 to 90 pounds, utilizing tools like two-wheelers and lift gates. Drivers are also responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety standards of their vehicles and equipment. The position mandates a clean motor vehicle report, valid CDL-A license, and successful completion of background checks and drug tests, emphasizing safety and reliability. Through these duties, the CDL-A Driver plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless delivery operations that keep America’s food service industry thriving.
